At Happy Scribe we provide both transcription and translation services. We have dedicated scribes who perform either or both.

Translation is an art form of its own and goes beyond transcription by ensuring full interpretation of the source audio in a foreign language. It's essential that any translator is capable of conveying the message as accurately yet relating as possible. This requires a native understanding of the target language.

As such, becoming a translator scribe is no given. As of now, the requirements are the following:

  • You're a fully native speaker of the target language(s), or you have carried out solid years of translation into the target language outside of Happy Scribe.

  • You have a very advanced command of the source language, comparable to CEFR C1 or C2 levels for European languages.

  • You have a solid, above-average review score and have transcribed and captioned files for a considerable amount of time.

  • Ideally, you have pre-existing translation experience outside of Happy Scribe.

Any new translator will get rated on their initial files. If these ratings are below our standards, you will unfortunately not be able to continue translating with us.
