What to Include in Your Takedown Notice

To submit a valid notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), please provide all of the following:

1. Your contact information

  • Full name

  • Email address

  • Mailing address

  • (Optional) Phone number

2. Identify the copyrighted work

  • Describe the original content you believe is being infringed (e.g., a transcript, video, or audio file).

  • Include a link to your original work (if available).

  • Provide a link or detailed description of where the infringing content exists on Happy Scribe (e.g., a file name, workspace ID, or project link).

3. Your statement under penalty of perjury

“I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.”

What Happens Next?

  1. We will review your request for completeness.

  2. If valid, we will promptly remove or disable access to the infringing content.

  3. We will notify the user who uploaded the material.

  4. That user may submit a counter-notice if they believe the takedown was a mistake.

  5. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to you. If you do not file a lawsuit within 10–14 business days, we may restore the content.
