HappyScribe detects the starting timecode from the metadata of any video or audio file, even if it's just a few minutes long. This timecode ensures that each file has an accurate timestamp in the Editor based on when it was recorded. That means that it reflects the data it has in its metadata, which is why your file might not start at 00:00:00.

Do you want your transcript file to start at 00:00:00 regardless? You can easily switch its timecode start to that by following these steps:

  • Click on the timecode numbers at the bottom-left of the Editor

  • Click on "Timecode"

  • Click on "Start time"

  • Edit the time in the pop-up

  • Click on "Set timecode"
